At The Nerdery Overnight Website Challenge, an event organized by interactive development firm The Nerdery, volunteer web developers formed ten teams of 8-10 that worked around the clock to build a complete website for a worthy nonprofit. Though this was the fifth iteration of the Challenge, it was the first time The Nerdery had taken the event on the road. With an expanding office in Chicago, it seems only natural that The Nerdery try their hand in the windy city.
And speaking of iterations, this was the second time that we, Crossroads Adoption Services, have been a participant in the event. Their first time occurred earlier in March of this year, though it was determined that the previous attempt to improve our website inadequately addressed the needs and desires of our agency. Previously at The Nerdery’s nonprofit nerdathon, volunteers have freely given over $1.5 million worth of professional web development services to 57 nonprofit organizations. The Nerdery considers this a good start, but as long as there are good nonprofits with bad (or no) websites we will rally our nerds and community to deliver nerdy deeds done dirt-cheap.
Chicago was the setting for Crossroads Adoption Services to receive a new website from Minneapolis-based Overnight Website Challenge team ‘Drop Shadows Not Bombs’.
